Stout University Foundation Scholarships
Stout Foundation scholarships are awarded based on an overall student profile, including participation in academic organizations and other groups, students' interest areas or financial need. Awards range from $250 to $8,500. Scholarship applications are due Wednesday, January 30, 2013. Below are specific scholarships opportunities for freshmen, with others listed here.
Stout Scholars
Outstanding students could qualify for a $5,000 scholarship renewable for up to four years. Students with a 26 composite ACT score and rank in the top 10% of their graduating class (3.5 GPA if your high school does not rank). Students will be invited to campus on February 10th, 2012 for an interview.

Chancellor’s Academic Scholarship
Beginning fall 2012, a $4,000 scholarship will be automatically awarded to those students who rank (unweighted only) in the top 10 percent of their graduating class (a 3.5 GPA for high schools that do not rank), and who have an ACT score of at least 26, (or an equivalent SAT score), and who apply by January 15th. This scholarship is renewable for $2,000 for a second year.
Honors Scholarships
15 scholarships available at $2,000 each. Criteria includes:
- Incoming freshmen
- This is a $2,000 scholarship that is renewable for a second year based on adequate progress and participation in the University Honors Program.
- ACT score of 24 or higher, and a class rank in the top 25 percent of graduating class (or a GPA of 3.5 or higher for high schools that do not rank).
- Be accepted into the University Honors Program by invitation or application [PDF] by January 15, 2012 and
- Complete UHP Scholarship Essay Part B of the UHP invitation on the UHP website
- Complete the Stout Foundation scholarship application by January 27, 2012.
STEM Stars
These scholarships will be awarded to 5 current or articulating Applied Science students. Recipients will be awarded a maximum of $5,000 or their FAFSA estimated “financial need”, whichever is less. This scholarship is not renewable. Applicants who demonstrate academic promise and a commitment to Applied Science will be invited to the Applied Science NSF S-STEM Invitational March 2012. Multicultural Student Scholarship Awards
These awards consist of four-year scholarships valued at $10,000. Students selected for this scholarship will receive $2,500 each year for up to four years. Students are eligible to be considered for a scholarship if they are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander, or Hispanic American; are a citizen, national or legal permanent resident of the United States; have attained a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (unweighted); will be enrolling for the first time at UW-Stout as a full-time, degree-seeking, first-year student in fall 2011; and have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities. Army ROTC Scholarships

National Merit Finalists are eligible for a $2,000 award.
In addition, freshmen and sophomores must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid by the priority date of February 15, 2012.

Polytechnic scholarship
This $1,000 automatic, one-year scholarship will be offered to students that exceed the following criteria: rank in the top 50% (3.2 for high schools that do not rank) and have a composite 22 ACT. Selection will be determined based solely on academic qualifications and of those who apply before January 15th.
Graduate from WI
Students from the top ten states where we currently have the most students including: MI, CA, IA, OH, NY, PA, TX and FL who graduate in the top 25% of their graduating class or have a composite ACT of 22 or greater and demonstrate financial need by completing the FAFSA will pay the resident rates rather than the non-resident rates.

NSF S-Stem Scholarship
Scholarships will be awarded to 10 new Applied Science freshmen. Recipients will be awarded a maximum of $10,000 or their FAFSA estimated “financial need”, whichever is less.
